The Indiana Kappa chapter of Phi Delta Theta at Ball State University is negotiating with university officials to regain the old chapter house at 1501 W. Riverside Ave. The current status of negotiation is promising with a five-year plan in the works.
The chapter has operated without an official chapter house since 2006. Numbers dwindled, finances plummeted, but ambition rose to new heights. Since the chapter hit a new low of fourteen members in the fall of 2008, it has risen from near death and recorded unbelievable results. Two years later, the chapter raised the bar in recruiting by pinning twenty-three men. Indiana Kappa recently initiated Bond #753 and has eclipsed fifty active members this year becoming the fourth largest fraternity on campus.
The Chapter Advisory Board (CAB) wants to ensure the continued success of the chapter by raising money for the house. The majority of the money will serve as a reserve fund for the house and future upkeep. If enough money is raised, we will be able to use a small portion to improve future alumni events. We ask for your donations for the housing fund, homecoming, Founder’s Day, and a possible alumni summer golf outing.
We want to make the donation process as easy as possible. The plan will work like this:
• Go to our web site at www.bsuphidelt.com and look for the Donation area on the right
• Click on the Paypal donation button to start the process
• Follow the instructions on the screen to get everything in motion
When you go to set things up with Paypal you will notice that there are three levels of monthly giving: $10, $25 or $50. After signing up we will send you a gift in appreciation of your continued support:
$10 giving level will receive a Phi Delt bumper sticker
$25 giving level will receive a Phi Delt t-shirt
$50 giving level will received a Phi Delt sweat shirt
There is always a concern of where the donations go and what it is used for. To alleviate those concerns the CAB will receive and manage the funds at all times. As stated above, the money will be used as a reserve fund for the purchase of a house in the future. This will be a fully transparent program for all. Biannual statements will be published to the website showing all cash flows and the CAB will be available for questions at any time.
The Chapter has grown much bigger and stronger over the last few years and it is our intent to keep the momentum going in the right direction. We feel a Chapter house will provide a great environment for the actives and alumni to gather and share their pride in Phi Delta Theta.
